Growley Primer: A Guide To Shipping and FAQ

Hello there, curious person! I see you might be interested in the good ship known as ‘Growley’ which is the shipping of Gabriel and Crowley.

You, of course, would like to know why myself and the others out there ship these two.

I shall try to answer the most frequently asked questions:

  • How can you ship them when they were never in an episode together? In my experience, you don’t really need canon evidence to ship something. This is a little different since they never interact but I know that I have spent plenty of time imagining the two of them together. I think for most fans of the ship, it’s what has been built up in your mind that makes it great.
  • But why do you ship them? I pretty much explained my personal reasons for shipping them in this post but I’ll give you a basic rundown. They’re both sarcastic, witty, and survivors. Neither of them fit in with their ‘given’ families. I think they would have a mutual respect for each other and that would build into a relationship. I think they would have wonderful chemistry.
  • Gabriel/Crowley is an angel/demon though! This is true. Gabriel isn’t a very good angel, though. He has a serious sadistic side. I mean, he spent a thousand years or so as the Trickster killing people for fun. I highly doubt he’d be too quick to judge. As for Crowley, we all know he’s not opposed to working with whoever he needs to. I think that would carry over.

Now, you may be wondering “How do I further delve into this ship?” Have no fear, I shall help you out. We’re a very small ship and therefore there isn’t much material out there but what is out there is pretty golden.

I suggest you start here. I recommend that fic to everyone who asks because it’s the fic that I started with thanks to a dear friend. It’s truly lovely and she’s written other stories for the ship as well.

I also suggest you check out the RP on Twitter between Gabriel and Crowley. It isn’t as active as it used to be but these two are the reason I fell so deeply in love with this ship. Their banter is wonderful.

Gabriel and Crowley are my OTP without a doubt. I have never shipped anything as hard as I ship these two. I look at them and I think they would just understand each other. They would complete each other.

Not to mention they would be one hell of a troll team.
